Course objectives
Our goal is not just to teach your child how to play chess but to strengthen their mental abilities, improve problem solving skills, develop creativity and imagination. We want every child after our course to feel more confident, learn to make informed decisions and refine their strategic thinking.
The main course objectives include:
- Mastering the basic rules of the game. Understanding chess rules, piece movements, castling, en passant capture, etc. This will allow children to comprehend chess from scratch and play at a basic level.
- Development of logical thinking and analytical skills. Teaching children to plan moves, analyze chess positions, and formulate effective strategies.
- Improved problem solving. Developing children's ability to find the optimal solutions, as well as to adapt to changing circumstances on the chessboard.

- Chess pieces. Basic functional features of pieces. Their role in the game. We are learning to understand how each piece affects the course of the game.
- Opening, middlegame, endgame, blitz chess, long chess. We understand the various stages of the game and checkmate strategies.
- Checkmate patterns. Checkmate in one, two, three or more moves. Challenges involving multiple-move checkmates. We practice checkmates of different complexity.
- Chess variants. Variety of chess game. Castling, combinations that lead to achievements. Learn the basic combinations and subtleties of moves.
- Chess notation. Naming horizontal lines, verticals, symbols of chess pieces and terms. Record the initial position. We delve into chess notation for recording and analyzing games.
- The value of chess pieces. Comparative strength of figures. Achieving a material advantage. We learn to evaluate the strength of our pieces and opponent's pieces.
- Checkmating the lone king. Diverse approaches to checkmate (two rooks against the king; queen and rook against the king; queen and king against the king). We consider different checkmate methods.
- Checkmate without sacrificing material (clean game). Training positions with checkmate in two moves in the endgame. Zugzwang. Training positions with checkmate in two moves in the middlegame. We learn complex checkmate techniques.
- Chess combinations. Checkmate combinations of distraction, entrainment, blocking. We practice and analyze the main checkmate combinations.
